Most little girls, at sometime in their life, wish to be a princess. With so many animated movies out there that center on the lives of princesses, it’s no surprise little girls desire this. They dream of living in a castle, of wearing long, flowing dresses, and of eventually finding their very own Prince Charming. Oh, and of course, living happily ever after. As girls grow up, this fantasy doesn’t always go away. Thankfully the film industry is getting wise to the fact that a young woman, or princess, doesn’t always need saving, but we all need love. Yes, our idea of love changes a bit, becomes a bit more “modern” or “realistic,” but the desire to find Prince Charming and live happily ever after usually never goes away.

Well, if you’re a Prince Charming and you’ve found your beloved princess and are ready to propose to her, you’ve obviously considered the type of ring you’re going to get for her. You recognize what a special woman has entered your life and you want to hold onto her forever. It would be your honor to treat her like a princess, or a queen for that matter, because to you she is one. So, what kind of engagement ring befits a princess and queen?

Obviously a diamond would fit the occasion. But there is much more to choosing an engagement ring than just deciding to give her a diamond. There are a lot of factors to consider in choosing the ring of her dreams. Of course, there are the 4 Cs – cut, color, clarity, and carats. How large is the diamond going to be? Does she want a diamond that looks like ice, or one that has fire to it? Besides these things that pertain only to the diamond, you have to also consider the setting for the diamond and the type of metal used. Do you want a simple band with a setting for a single diamond? Or, do you think she would prefer a diamond with other stones surrounding it?

Two beautiful options for the hopeless romantic type princesses out there both use the princess cut diamond. This option is great for getting a classic design and more diamond for your buck as there is less cutting of the diamond as opposed to round diamonds. The princess cut shape also flatters just about anyone. Imagine a rose gold band with a white princess cut diamond. Or, a pink or black princess cut diamond surrounded by smaller diamonds and housed in white gold. Both looks are incredibly romantic.

If you’re looking to make your proposal one of epic, fairytale proportions you need to make sure everything is just right, especially the most important piece – the gorgeous princess cut diamond ring!
