When you look at medical uniforms of old, you must admit that you have to cringe. Like many other things, men had it better than women. But between medical armor and plague doctor masks, it wasn’t a walk in the park either. Here are three reasons why it’s great to have modern medical uniforms.
Practicality
This is why modern medical uniforms are such a blessing. First of all, they’re super practical. When a patient codes on the other side of the hall while you’re doing your rounds, running off to them doesn’t have to be a hassle. Running around in a tight skirt with a nursing cap threatening to fall off has never been convenient.
That’s not to mention the fact that modern medical uniforms they’ve got all sorts of hooks and pockets that make carrying all your stuff really convenient.
Comfort
When you think about it, modern medical uniforms are just top-to-bottom comfortable. They’re so much so that it’s easy to get through an entire day without thinking about what you have on.
It’s easy to be thankful for it when you see vintage snapshots of medical personnel. Their clothes look uncomfortable, and their postures look so stiff that it’s a wonder how they ran about saving lives in their day!
Fun
Perhaps in the attempt to look more stern and professional, medical uniforms back in the day were typically in plain, austere colors. Nowadays, we have a huge range of colors and prints to choose from. After all, who says you can’t be professional while you’re wearing Hello Kitty printed scrubs?
Perhaps all this has stemmed from the fact that the medical profession has changed over the years. Practicality, comfort, and fun weren’t exactly closely associated with a profession that tended to be grim. Fortunately, however, the comfort of medical uniforms now allow us to focus on what really matters: giving the best medical service possible to our patients.
